Comment from the Grand Prix Winner
This came to me as a big surprise, as I did not think I could actually win a Grand Prix. I am excited about the future and the possibilities that are now open to me thanks to this award. I made this suit with a wild design inspired by the landscape of Zimbabwe in a photo collection that my mother bought me. The suit is made from glen check, a traditional textile, and consists of a jacket, which I adorned using techniques such as smocking, ruffling, tucking and pleats, a vest to put on top of the jacket and a pair of loose pants. I used stretch fabric to ensure that the suit would be comfortable to move around in. My job involves recycling old cloth and fabric. In the future, I want to launch my own brand based on the knowledge that I have gained from this work.
