About the New Designers Fashion Grand Prix

The New Designer Fashion Grand Prix was established in 1984 by Onward Kashiyama Co. Ltd, and has since uncovered many young designers. In 2004, it became part of the Japan Fashion Fair (JFF) project, a project aiming to strengthen the competitiveness and progress of the Japanese textile and fashion industry. In 2006, it became one of the projects of “Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo (JFW in Tokyo)”, receiving sponsorship from the JFW Promotional Organization New Designer Fashion Grand Prix Executive Committee. In 2008, under the co-sponsorship of Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Training and Business Support Program for new designers started with the goal of promoting young designers who have the potential to become internationally active.

One of the world's largest contests with participation of 722 schools from 61 countries worldwide
